Steve Gossett, Jr., Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Gossett joined SCIenergy in 2012 as Executive Vice President of Catalyst Equity and brings with him over 17 years of experience in the energy services industry.
Prior to joining SCIenergy, Mr. Gossett co-founded Transcend Equity Development in 2001 to specifically address the need for energy efficiency solutions for commercial real estate, private universities, and the health care industry.
Mr. Gossett joined CSI Energy Solutions in 1995 and, in 1997 he pioneered the Managed Utility Services Contracting (MUSC) method for developing energy savings projects in the commercial real estate market, developing over $25 million in MUSC projects.
Mr. Gossett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A & M University, an EIT certification from the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) as well as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Demand Side Manager (CDSM) and Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP) certifications from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
He is active in the Real Estate community, and is a graduate of the Associate Leadership Council for the Real Estate Council (TREC) in Dallas where he was appointed to the board of directors for TREC in 2004. He is also a member of the U.S. Green Buildings Council (USGBC) and actively involved with the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), Urban Land Institute (ULI), and the U.S. Green Buildings Council (USGBC).
Steve Gossett, Sr., President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Gossett brings more than 40 years of success in transforming the advanced controls and building efficiency space. In 1978 Mr. Gossett co-founded Delta Energetics Corporation, serving as President, and eventually negotiating the sale of the company to AMF, Inc.
In 1986 He was part of a group that formed CSI Control Systems International, serving as Vice President and General Manager, Global Business Development and helped guide the sale to TAC, Inc. in 2000.
Following the sale of CSI, in 2001 he co-founded Transcend Equity Development, acquired by SCIenergy.
Mr. Gossett’s career highlights include projects with the entire Dallas Public School system, Citibank buildings worldwide, and Rockefeller Center, the world’s largest commercial office complex. He is an associate member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT).
Woolsey McKernon, Senior Vice President, MESA Business Unit
Mr. McKernon oversees the growth of SCI’s Managed Energy Service Agreement (MESA) unit, which enables SCIenergy to upgrade buildings in a balance sheet neutral way. The son of a contractor and developer, Mr. McKernon grew up building houses. He began his professional career at Autodesk before joining California’s largest contractor, Webcor, where he helped the company set up the company’s Interior Commercial division as well as start a real estate services division that developed numerous residential, retail and mixed-use properties in California. Mr. McKernon subsequently joined WIRE in Singapore where he worked on numerous capital acquisition strategies, including an AIM-listing in London. He structured the development entity, led the development of a project in Bangalore, India and was involved in a 13-property turnaround at Rendezvous Hospitality Group in Singapore.
He is an Urban Land Institute Member with a Masters in Environmental Management at National University of Singapore and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Vermont. Growing up on a farm, he is a passionate outdoorsman, ex-Ski Patrol member and backcountry skier – tempered only by his enthusiasm for sustainable urban living and the inevitability of globalization.
Kilby Patrick, Senior Vice President, Software Development
Kilby has more than 15 years' experience helping to build, scale, and support successful software products. He joined SCIenergy in 2011 and is currently responsible for leading the software development organization. Kilby has a proven track record of successfully delivering high-visibility, strategically important projects across a broad range of business domains. Prior to joining SCIenergy, Kilby was a Lead Software Engineer at Nexidia, where he was responsible for engineering efforts on Nexidia's market leading speech analytics solution, Enterprise Speech Intelligence (ESI) for customers spanning the corporate, military, and intelligence markets. Prior to joining Nexidia, Kilby was the Lead Software Engineer at Melia Technologies where he was responsible for all engineering activities related to the company’s flagship product Nimbus, an e-commerce, CRM, & content management platform used by major web properties including National Geographic, Philips Electronics, and Smithsonian. Kilby holds a BS in Computer Science from Southern Polytechnic State University.
Anthony Martin, Vice President, Technical Sales
Mr. Martin is Vice President, Technical Sales for the Managed Energy Services Agreement (MESA) and Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings provided by SCIenergy. Prior to the Company’s merger with SCIenergy, Mr. Martin was Director of Engineering with Transcend Equity Development. He also spent 10 plus years in project design and operations management with Henderson Engineers (HEI).
Mr. Martin has managed, commissioned, and designed a wide range of energy efficiency and sustainability projects including USGBC LEED certified commercial, education, and healthcare projects. Working with Transcend Equity Development, he was responsible for the design of more than $20 million in potential MESA projects.
Mr. Martin is an active member of the U.S. Green Buildings Council (USGBC), having served as the education and events chairperson, and spoken at multiple USGBC, American Institute of Architects (AIA), World Energy Efficiency Congress (WEEC), and Construction Specification Index (CSI) events.
Chris Cutcliff, Vice President, Operations
Mr. Cutcliff brings more than 25 years of experience in direct Building Automation Control, Mechanical / Construction related industry experience, Program Management for Utility Programs and Business Development / Management. Mr. Cutcliff has been involved with all phases of design build, performance contracts, new construction, Utility RCX Programs, service and energy related projects. A veteran of Trane Corporation, he has held Operations Management, Senior Project Management, Sales, and Technical positions in areas related to Performance Contracting, Energy Management, and Design & Build development. Mr. Cutcliff is a Graduate of Nation Education Center, and holds an Associate’s degree for Electronic Electrical Engineering.
Mr. Cutcliff has been a member of ASHRAE, BOMA, ASHE and has held a mechanical license in the state of Alabama. His responsibilities include P & L, Project Development (Lighting, Mechanical, Retro-commissioning, and more) and execution of all projects within the SCIenergy organization. Mr. Cutcliff is the direct manager of all operations associates.
Michael Best, Vice President, Product Management and Customer Services
Mr. Best brings a wealth of knowledge from 20+ years of Building Management Systems experience with rich backgrounds in energy and facilities management, building automation and controls, integration, energy efficiency and cloud-based software development, and engineering. Being a qualified mechanical engineer and subject matter expert, Mr. Best uses his building management systems and mechanical knowledge to collect data from mechanical, electrical, lighting and other metering systems to create the Big Data cloud where he serves as an expert in data analytics with automated fault detection and diagnostics, energy efficiency dashboards, and feasibility studies to drive down energy consumption and energy cost in buildings.
Mr. Best is responsible for the vision of SCIenergy’s Product by running the Product Management team for all products. He also is responsible for the Services Division, a group of expert Account Managers and Energy Engineers who reach out to all customers to bring much more business value of all SCIenergy products.
